John Ackerly, President
John oversees the group's policies, programs and fundraising. He has 25 years of experience in advocacy and non-profit management with the International Campaign for Tibet, Public Citizen, the Center for Constitutional Rights and others. He earned a BA from Dartmouth College and a JD at the Washington College of Law and practiced civil rights law. John serves on several boards of directors, including the Biomass Thermal Energy Council. He used to live in New Hampshire where he began heating with wood.
Louis Spitzer, Consultant for Online Communications
Louis is webmaster and all around tech support consultant for the Alliance for Green Heat. He is an experienced technology strategist, and has worked with the International Campaign for Tibet, Breakthrough, and Streetbeam, among other non-profit and for-profit organizations.
Murali krishna, IT Technical Support
Murali Krishna handles IT issues and is building out the website, producing e-newlstters and troubleshooting. He is finishing his master's degree at the University of Northern Virginia, VA. He has extensive experience in web applications and software development.
Tom de Haan, Researcher
Tom is a researcher with the Alliance for Green Heat and is focusing on the carbon cycle of wood burning technologies and policies related to wood as a heating fuel. Currently he is finishing his Bachelor's degree in Science, Business and Innovation at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he focused on technical aspects of renewables as well as European Union renewable policies and markets.
Lauren Sobecki, Green Building Researcher
Lauren is an intern focusing on green building issues, building codes and energy efficiency at the Alliance for Green Heat. She is a fourth year architecture student at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., where she has taken numerous sustainable design courses. She also is the standing President of Global Architecture Brigades at Catholic University and is leading a group of 15 students to Panama to design an ecological cabin in the remote village of Granja El Salto.
