Woodstove Replacement Program
Alpine County, California
Status: Active as of September 2016
Eligible fuels: Wood (uncertified) -> wood (certified), pellet, gas
Notable feature(s): Provides very high rebates and open to both residential and commercial properties.
Alpine County residents and business-owners who replace pre-1990 wood burning systems (stoves or fireplaces) are eligible for $2,250 incentives towards a new EPA certified wood device, or $3,000 towards a new pellet or gas device.
The program is ongoing until funds are depleted, or through November 30, 2016.
Interested parties should contact one of the program’s two participating retailers: Sierra Hearth & Home in Jackson at (209) 223-4007 or South Y Fireplace in South Lake Tahoe at (540) 541-6833. An instant discount off the new device is taken off at the time of purchase and retailers are reimbursed once the installation is completed.
The wood system being replaced must be the building’s main heat source. All old wood systems must be relinquished to the retailer for disposal. All new installations must comply with the Alpine County Building Department codes.
