Burn Bright Burn Right Woodstove Replacement Program

Location: Carnelian Bay, Homewood, Kings Beach, Lake Forest, Tahoe City, Tahoe Vista & Tahoma

Eligible fuels: Wood (uncertified) -> wood (certified), pellet, gas

Notable feature(s): Residents can potentially receive a voucher to upgrade multiple devices per residents (although they are only allowed one update per year)
Incentive Amounts
Placer County is offering property owners in the Lake Tahoe area vouchers worth up to $650 to replace uncertified wood burning appliances with certified wood appliances, pellet appliances, or gas appliances.

Program Duration
The program is ongoing until funds are depleted.      

To receive a voucher, applicants must first submit a registration form to the District. Vouchers must be redeemed at a participating retailer.

Uncertified wood appliances must be used in a primary year round residence. The property could not have been sold or transferred after January 2011. Property owners are only allowed one upgrade per property per year. Required building and other permits must be obtained by the applicant. Replaced appliances must be rendered inoperable by the retailer or the applicant. Installations of uncertified wood appliances are banned by County Rule 225.
