Financial Incentive: Sales tax and use tax exemption
Type: Residential
For: Wood (including wood pellets and other compressed wood products) used for heating purposes only
Incentive Amount: 100%


Summary: Sales and uses of [wood] to be used for residential purposes are exempt from the 4% state sales and use taxes and the â…œ% sales and use taxes imposed in the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District (MCTD).

Past Incentive: Renewable Heat NY Small Biomass Boiler Program - The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) provided incentives toward the installed costs of high-efficiency, low-emission wood heating systems from 2019 to 2021.
