Mission Statement

The Alliance for Green Heat promotes modern wood and pellet heating systems as a low-carbon, sustainable and affordable energy solution. The Alliance works to advance cleaner and more efficient residential heating technology, particularly for low and middle-income families. Founded in Maryland in 2009, the Alliance is an independent non-profit organization and is tax-exempt under section 501c3 of the tax code.

The Alliance for Green Heat works on:

  • Advancing innovation through technology competitions for wood and pellet stoves

  • Working with state and federal agencies to expand and improve programs and materials that include or could include wood and pellet heating

  • Advocating for tax credits and other incentives for the cleanest and most efficient stoves and boilers

  • Educating stakeholders about the value of more widespread, smart deployment of modern wood and pellet heating to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The Alliance for Green Heat partners with the renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate change community, environmental, forestry, and air quality organizations, the wood and pellet stove industry and others.
