Dining & Drinking
The Indigo hotel is an exceptionally nice place with a nice restaurant, bar and outdoor fireplace. It is 1 – 3 miles away from a big variety of eateries but nothing is walkable. Once you leave Riverhead, where the hotel is located and get on the Interstate to Brookhaven Lab (20 min drive) there are no gas stations or eateries. Here are some recommendations:
* Breakfast: Breakfast is not included and its kind of pricey at the Indigo. We will have coffee, donuts and bagels everyday in both Bldg 526 and 815. Lots of options within a couple miles of the hotel from Panera Bread (11 Commerce Dr, Riverhead, NY 11901) to Applebees (1832 Old Country Rd, Riverhead, NY 11901), to local diners like the Riverhead Diner & Grill (87 E Main St, Riverhead, NY 11901).
* Lunch: Everyday we will be eating at the cafeteria on the Brookhaven campus. We will have a corner of the cafeteria to join others for lunch.
* Drinks: The Indigo has a happy hour every evening from 3 – 7 with $5 pints of local microbrews & $6 glasses of local New York wine. Thursday is ½ price night for Single Malt Scotches.
Crooked Ladder Brewery is one of several local brew pubs. $9 gets you a full flight of beer tasting and a free glass.70 W Main St, Riverhead, NY 11901. 3:00 - 8:00 PM. Closed Tuesdays. No food.

* Dinner: Bistro 72 is the restaurant at the hotel which is very well rated and on the expensive side. We are having a group dinner here on Tuesday night thanks to Blaze King and Woodstock Soapstone who are underwriting it. They also have $29 price fixed dinners Mon, Tues and Wed nights.
Farm Country Kitchen: This is a very highly rated local favorite and its BYOB, with no corkage charge! However, its small and you need reservations in advance. They only take reservations for parties of 4 or less. 4 minute drive.

Spicy's Barbecue: This is a great local dive featuring soul food and rock bottom prices in a genuine old timey diner atmosphere. 4 minutes.
